WOLF

The first time I ever met Wolf he shared, "My mother was Native, my father was German. I met my grandfather once. He said to me, 'Your father is white, and your mother is Native. Because of this I'll call you White Wolf.'"

It had been 8 months since I had seen Wolf in the streets of Billins, Montana. I didn't recognize him at first, he had trimmed and shaped his beard.

"Can I give her water?" he asked, looking at my Doberman. It was very hot, and Wolf has a strong love for animals.

After he had watered my Doberman to his satisfaction, and as we parted ways, Wolf said to me, "Keep the rubber side down, whether it's the soles of your shoes, or the tires on your car."
