Lilly, Billings

“We’ve been at the Montana Rescue Mission for two months,” Lilly’s mother Carman shared from the streets of Billings, Montana. “That’s two months too long. We were living in an RV. There’s nothing wrong with living in an RV, but it’s expensive living. Just to park it costs $1,100 a month right now. The RV was Lilly’s dads. He was sent to jail, and the RV was too much for me. I couldn’t take care of it - it’s so expensive, and hard to move. Lilly attends public school - so the bus comes to the shelter and picks her up each morning. Her best friend is an autistic boy, and I think it’s okay that her best friend is a boy.”

I looked at Lilly and asked, “Is school okay for you?”

She answered without hesitation, “Yes, I like going.”
